Sugarstown Veterinary (Thomastown Veterinary Clinic on its website) describes itself as a second-generation, family-run companion-animal practice established in 1987, operating from a purpose-built veterinary hospital with a dedicated grooming parlour. The clinic is Gold accredited as a Cat Friendly Clinic. Reviews most often describe routine preventive care (vaccination and microchipping) and also mention urgent same-day treatment after a dog was mauled, plus end-of-life care discussions where surgery was considered but not pursued because it wouldn’t resolve the illness. One review strongly disputes the clinic’s handling of a cat without a microchip, alleging euthanasia without efforts to locate an owner, while another review describes compassionate euthanasia following diagnosis of a large stomach tumour in an elderly cat.

I am not happy. I am very angry with this veterinary clinic. Our cat came to them. They should have given him painkillers and in the morning called other clinics and asked if anyone had lost a cat. They did not do this because he did not have a microchip. So they put him down and that’s it. Zero heart and love for animals. I do not recommend. A vet should help and not take a life.

Dr Siobhan Kennedy examined our cat today who became very unwell quickly. She was kind and gentle with her and diagnosed a large tumour in her stomach. As our cat Pebble was quite advanced in years and as surgery would not resolve her illness, Dr Siobhan put her to sleep. Although a highly emotional experience, there was nothing but compassion for Pebble.

Absolutely fantastic. My dog got a clean bill of health .coming out of vets my dog was mauled by another dog ,straight away they took her back in and attended to her right there and then .Absolutely brilliant.

Excellent practice, from Fiona's warm welcome to Siobhans care, the dogs enjoy going there. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.
